Our June 1, 2024, ATS featured our speaker David Bobrow sharing his experience in Healthcare Construction Projects. David Bobrow is a Senior Project Manager for CHOC (Children’s Health of Orange County). He has successfully led numerous project implementations in Revenue Cycle, Clinical Applications, Systems Integration, Information Security, and Infrastructure at CHOC over the last 11 years. David won the prestigious 2022 President’s Recognition Award from CHOC for bringing the latest industry knowledge and practices to the PMO team and helping make them part of the project management process at CHOC.
The Advanced training session provided valuable insights into integrating project management and IT trends into healthcare projects. The session also highlighted the importance of the project kickoff presentation, encompassing elements such as project summary, scope, high-level floor plan, out-of-scope, project governance structure, risks, and timeline.
Furthermore, the session addressed crucial aspects of risk, barrier, and mitigation, including construction challenges, unexpected PM absence, internet access, ordering equipment, working with purchasing, and collaboration with other vendors. This session shed light on important considerations to effectively address potential obstacles and ensure the smooth progression of the project.
In addition, David shared details about the construction challenges in the Healthcare industry, particularly focusing on permit challenges, climate issues, data and phone jack standards, response delays, and electric vendor challenges. If these challenges are not managed effectively, it can lead to delays and complications in the construction process.
Overall, the session was comprehensive and valuable, providing insights into various stages of project management within the healthcare construction domain.
